You gotta believe: we’ve heard it a million times. It’s just that sometimes we forget. You’ve got to believe in your ability to overcome what you see, and press towards your dream. Sometimes that’s hard. What happens though when we get a few life blows and feel discouraged? What happens when you’ve called your friends for help and none of them answer the phone? What do you do if you can’t pull yourself up by your own bootstraps because you aren’t wearing boots?
That’s where you’ve got to get the digital downloads and your faith has to kick in. The “digital downloads” come when we hear God on the hush. So the first way for you to start believing in yourself is to be still, meditate, and pray.
I know it’s so simple it almost seems as if it can’t work, but it does. Yes, you can hear God in the noise, but you feel him in the silence. So stop talking to everybody about what to do next. Stop telling the drama story over and over; tell the inner critic goodbye. And stop acting like you have no other choice. You do. You just need to breathe so you’ll know the next most appropriate step.
Next, start writing. On one side of the page, write out your situation in bullet points. Then, on other side of the page, write out alternative happy endings. For most people, seeing is believing so create a new story that you can see. Write out what “could happen if” things went this new way instead of the way you keep giving voice to. The alternative ending you see on your paper is you playing in a new reality. It is a reality that exists and shall come to pass if you start focusing on it and take action.
Also, give voice to those happy endings. Do you know how long I’ve declared, “I’m moving to Maryland?” Forever. Let me just tell you though that not for one minute did I ever doubt it would come to pass.
And now, here I sit happily living my dream.
Your dreams will come to pass too when you first start seeing them from inside out and moving with an unwavering belief.
The real key is to shake your own self up and speak about what you want all the time. Remember though, sometimes you have to keep your beliefs to yourself if you’re around toxic people; don’t let their negative energy take you down.
I believe in you.
Now, you must believe in yourself.
